Tom
We have a 1973 Indian 440-3 dropped the oil pan it has a windage tray. Does anyone know if this is stock or necessary?

Not stock as far as I know and I can't imagine we ever get enough revs up to really take advantage of the benefits, but i'll be watching this to see what others have to say...

Definitely a stock item.  Don't need it.  Just more between the pan and block for oil leaks to start.  Most people who have had them have tossed them, so maybe Dan's was already removed prior to him getting it?

I removed them on both of my Indians and had no problems... just easier installation of pan gasket.
