I have a Dodge 318 in my 73 D20 Brave and it looks like a part was removed from the engine. The only thing that remains is a mounting plate and a pulley above the water pump. I rebuilt a few Dodge motors in the past so I know my way around them. I had a 70 Challenger in my younger years. The only thing I can think of is that there was some type of pump on this plate at one time. Maybe for the hot water heater? Anybody know? Not important but it just has me curious. Thanks

Could it have been part of the pollution control equipment?

Do your in-dash heater controls have an A/C option?  Now, I don't know for certain if it's held true for all the years of the 318 and 360, but usually that top dead center bracket spot was for the A/C pump if the vehicle had the option.
