On my just restored 1972 D22C Chieftain, I am looking for a new electric fuel valve that switches from the main tank to the auxiliary tank (for reliability).
Any sources and part numbers?

Thanks,
John

Is not Google great?

And

You do know what the next set of questions (and answers) will be about this right?  You know, the rest of the story?

Do I need this:

Early Champion RV's used those too!  However, that will not work on some  later chassis' (i.e Chevy P30) that has a fuel return line.

Dave,

Google is a great tool eh?  :D Top valve is only 3 port with no return lines. Made of metal. And I believe solenoid type valve selection.

Bottom is a 6 port with return lines. Made of glass reinforced polyester. With motorized valve selection.  Requires fuel filtered down to minimum of ten microns.

Both I would recommend installation in the engine compartment, maybe as close to the carb as possible, to prevent freezing of the valve mechanism while driving.

Which one he needs depends on whether or not he needs return lines.

Did I do good??? ???

Should be close to the tanks to reduce the amount of fuel lines running the length of the rig.  Would even be a bigger concern for a fuel injected system that has higher pressures.  The valves are sealed mechanisms.  For the Dodge chassis (3 port valve), Winnebago mounted them on the passenger frame rail however they are adjacent to the muffler.  Due to heat radiation, I was not to thrilled with that.  All my stuff is outboard the frame rails now (like a P30 chassis).

I should mention the Dodge vent return lines from the charcoal canisters is not the same as the fuel return lines on a GM P30.  Dodge is vapor, GM is raw fuel.

I believe that recommendation was made by the makers of the motorized (6 port) valve because the motor could burn out if the valve was frozen.

In case anyone's interested here's what I did for my 1975 and your right Dave mine runs inside the frame on the passangers side and I thought it would pick up heat from the exhaust. So I built an angle bracket from the bottom of the frame to the top and boxed it in to protect it from the heat.
