Are safety inspections enforced across state lines?

For example, if I get my rig inspected in NY (where it's registered) and it expires while I'm on the road, do I need to get it inspected in the new state? If so, would it also need to be registered there?

Hello,

If it expires on the road, the Police may let you slide as long as as it is re-inspected in a timely manner or may issue a "fix-it ticket".  That being said, this question would be better answered by contacting your state(s) DMV.

By the way, Welcome to the Nuthouse!
