There's another Discussion which covers the conversion numbers from the originals for your 440.  Use the Message Search.  NGK is very good, I have the Iridium IX's in mine but, these are really waaaay overkill and expensive for our needs.  Just don't select anything "Platinum". - Sob

Just curious SOB,

What kind of problems do platinum plugs cause in an old Dodge? I ran some platinum plugs 100K in my old Escort.

The Bosch Platinum plugs are toast when run in an engine that naturally runs a rich mixture, such as the 440.  They perform best in the newer fuel injected cars that -- by design -- run a leaner fuel mixture.

I tried a set in my 440 when I first got it... fuel mileage suffered, and there was a lack of power.  I went back to the stock Champion R12YC spark plugs, and gained 1/2 a mpg and had way more power.

Sorry... correct plug number for the 440 is RV12YC Champions, gapped at .035

I've had the best luck with plain old Autolites.  The Port of Indecision runs great on them and my antique John Deeres love them, too

I have been happy on my 413 with Champion "Truck plugs"  Not sure of the PNs.

1972 Dodge M400 chassis w/413 motor uses a Champion 4405 truck plug - try a set, I did :-)
