Ok I have 78 Winnebago chieftan with the dodge 440 this rig is driving me crazy when engine is cold starts and runs good but after reaches operating temp it runs horrible it will not idle it backfires and when you put it in drive it stalls. It restarts right away.  It then idles for a second and if you give it a little gas it backfires out the exaust.  I thought it was a vaccum leak.  I found one at intake manifold replaced gasket. Now it just runs good til it warms up.

Could be that the choke valve is stuck.  If it were mine, I would put some carb cleaner to the butterfly valve while cold, then let her warm up.  If the butterfly is now loose, rev up the engine a little and shoot the carb cleaner down the beasts throat.  Simple stuff first is my motto.
