So we found a plate with a serial number and a model number. I can't find what year the trailer is. Is it possible the serial number and the vin are the same?

VIN= Vehicle Identification Number so I would venture a guess that they are the same.

Do you have the title? If so, compare the VIN on the title with the numbers you found on your RV and see if they are the same.
