Mystery Can on ‘74 Winnie Brave 19’

This can is between the drivers seat, and the wall of my '74 Brave. Is there any clue as to what it might be?  Yes, there is writing on it, but it is illegible because of rest. Also, the holes on the side peek into what looks like air filter like material.

On the diagrams that I found, I'm thinking it might be "reserve brake fluid." But that does not make much sense given the holes.

Brake air breather filter.  When you step on the brakes, you'll hear a "whoosh" from it.

Thanks! Mystery solved! Is this something that needs replacement?

Honestly, I never replaced mine (original 1974) and never had an issue.  They can be replaced with an aftermarket filter, so I've read but, I couldn't tell you what that would be

Very cool. I will leave it be. One less thing to replace. One more thing to keep the original vibe.
