Hi,
I have an Onan Series 1 4000 generator from 1989. I am at my wits end with this generator. This generator started and ran great the night prior and has since I have owned it. Then I tried to start it the following morning and it started and ran very rough. I shut it down, and discovered it had a VERY weak spark. I found a plug wire with 37,000 ohms of resistance. I went ahead and changed the wires and the ignition coil (even though the old one tested good I decided as old as it was it might be time for a new one).

Although I now have a strong spark, it is intermittent. I did once get the generator to start and it ran GREAT for 30 minutes or so, then I shut it down and re started it and ran poorly again.

Generator has new points set at .016
New Coil
New Wires
Fuel pump is pumping and bowl is full of fuel.
120Psi of compression on both cylinders

as I say I am at my  wits end with the generator. Any suggestions are very welcome.
