Drain Plugs?
« on: October 10, 2021, 02:31 PM »
I'm thinking of draining all the water from the system in my 1989 27' Chieftain and would like to know the sequence (particularly where there are drain plugs, if any) to make sure all the water is out of the system. I don't want to rely on anti freeze any more. Any ideas?

Usually there is drain on the lower part of the radiator.
Otherwise disconnect the lower radiator hose.

What do you mean with not relying on antifreeze coolant?
You can not run pure water, the system will rust in the inside

Modern coolant is very good technology, prevention of corrosion, increase lifespan of gaskets. Just calling it antifreeze is not giving it enough credit.

I think that he was referring to the plumbing system. There are usually several low point drains found around the rig. The best place to look is in your owners manual. If you don't have one, the online version can be found here:

Yes, please clarify if you're talking about the engine cooling system or the coach water system.
