Opinions on 83 chieftain.

I have an. Opportunity to buy an immaculate 83 chieftain for $1800 the only bad thing is the th400 is blown and he will include a running used th400.

A quick tranny swap in a motorhome doesn't seem like a huge task since the housing bolts are exposed and I have a transmission jack. Looking for opinions

I'd rather change a tranny than deal with wood rot anyday.   Depends on how your current one is vs the other one .

Good time to sell your current one, everyone is looking for an RV these days.
