Oil cooler leaked.. looked all over heck for another cooler to fit the 1/2" lines.. NONE
New ones that are the same on eBay are insane, like $300..
All parts stores say to replace it with a generic aftermarket one with hoses and barb fittings.. But I don't like it..

I just put a cooler hose across the lines for now and removed the cooler..

You guys ever fix a leaking oil cooler on a 454?

Think it needs a cooler if I'm not going up mountains?

Also... does it need 1/2" lines or are smaller fine?
No 1/2" ones around either..

You may not need the additional cooler, but that's only something you can tell by driving it an watching your temps, now without the cooler vs before with it.  However, it's always good to have the additional cooler.

Since no direct replacement can be found, you see that you're going to need a generic one, but you don't like the barb end fittings.  Ok.  How do those connect to the cooler?  If they're screwed in, then all you need is adapters.  Take out the barbs and put the adapters in.  I had this issue with the one on my Dodge.  I got my adapters from a local, industrial compressor factory, of all places.  But, I'm sure you can find them any number of other places.
