just to let you know that a simple infrared camera saved my sportscoach from lighting like a torch!

anyone else use this tool for some serious fire prevention , amongst other?

Other than fire detectors and surveilance cameras, that's the first I've heard of using infrared cams.

Glad it saved the day!

And your RV.

Please tell me how it all went down? I imagine you could see a heat source where it didnt belong or an arching by a fuel source?

well basically,

a circuit board of the roof vent, started overheating, which caused a burning smell,
within seconds, I pulled the main plug, took the camera and i immediately found the area between the top roof and the inner roof panel, screwed the vent out and wound a corroded toasted circuit board.
these camera's are a MUST have on these old rigs , every day I make a little tour of all the components that draw current, the generator, all the fuse boxes ,... you name it . its also great on bearings, brakes ,....
any extra heat shows up immediately .
