To me the hard part would be getting the coupling apart at the bottom of the column - up inside the wheel well. Easier to reach with the drivers side front wheel removed, and the crud scraped away. The upper part of the cloumn on my 72 was held by what looked like a muffler clamp, and there are the 2 or 3 connectors to wiggle apart.
