We have had our coach for about 16 months and have overhauled/replaced all mechanical and interior system. Since all of that work has been completed we have put about 6 trips and about 3000 miles on her and everything works great. So the last project is to repaint her and make the outside look as good as the rest.
All that being said I am going to share pictures and information with everyone. Any questions please ask and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible.

How long did all that sanding take you?
Between removing the stripes and sanding at that point I had about 18 hours into the work. I have a 80 gallon 2 stage 8 hp air compressor and pneumatic air da sander and a pinstripe eraser wheel tool. I have got a lot more done and will try and take another picture.

Sorry I haven't posted anything lately, got a new project bronco for a daily driver. Just finished getting it road worthy. Ready to get on the winnie!

Looks like a lot of work. How much time do you spent sanding it ?
Wbago-- it is going to be Wimbledon White with some painted on graphics. have not figured out the final colors yet. Going to a friends shop and see what he has left from other projects.
eXodus-- so far I have about 80-90 hours in sanding and prep and repairs. hopefully this week after work will be final da sanding with 320 and another wash down.
That is the plan, but you know what they said about the best made plans!
Just remember, the sun loves to make that masking tape dry out and become a bear to remove.

Thanks for the advice on the tape, the coach stays inside a garage all the time. So I am hoping it will be ok.

What body work was done and how did you do it?
The coach has been primed and sanded twice. Body work has been completed on compartment doors, plastic bumper end caps and fender trim.
The fiberglass end caps needed a little work. the body filler I used was Dura glass on mostly everything along with some epoxy in some areas.
did you spray it ? Or just rolled the primer and paint on ?
I want to do mine next year, but we've got always wind here in Florida, so I am thinking about getting the big bucket and just rolling it with a matte or flat paint.
Did you remove the exposed caulk and sealer at the seams and trim?
Ive been wondering how this should be done... To paint over existing sealers or remove and reapply after the finish coat of paint? Hm?

Man your doing a sweet job. Looks fantastic.
All paint was sprayed with a 1.8 hvlp paint gun for the primer. And a 1.4 tip for the finish paint. I used a 2k epoxy primer. And a single stage acrylic top paint. The breeze in Florida where we are is good as well. We painted first thing in morning when the breeze was low.
All caulk and trim was removed. All access door were removed for cleaning and prep. I made sure all silicone was removed. After I get all done painting then I will reseal all windows, doors and seams.

- The problem is you now have a blank canvas that looks beautiful. Now the questions that begs to be asked is what are you going to do to make it pop Hm? . You'll only going to get one kick at the cat ??? . You could screw up all that hard work D:oH! .>GRIN< No pressure.
My suggestion?
First, look up a guy named Mike Lavalee on Google. He owns a place called Killer Paint. He's famous for doing ultra-realistic flame jobs. There is your 'Inspiration"...lol
Paint the Winne Your favorite color (Black,Blue,Burgundy,etc...) Paint the flames a contrasting color, then go over them with a coat of the main color to "ghost" them into the paint job.
Wait 24hrs after final base coat.
Wet sand with 1,000 grit to remove the orange peel,trash, and flaws.
Follow with 5-6 coats of clear.
Wait 24hrs to 48hrs for clear to harden.
Wet sand that with 1,500 grit to remove the orange peel, progressing up to 2,000 grit, then 4,000 grit... be careful to not cut thru the clear to the base coat. (If you do, you will have to respray the clear and start over)
Finally, cut,buff and polish with a foam pad and buffer at low speed with 3M polishes and swirl mark removers until finish is like a mirror.
Wait 30 days for paint to fully cure, then apply 2-3 coats of Mother's Pure Carnauba wax.
Congratulations! You now have the coolest RV in the campground!
i love the simple plain white color. i wouldnt add too much it looks just great as it is. maybe a stripe in the middle,
Finished putting some stripes on last night about 11pm.
Will be putting all the pieces back on and getting some pictures on here in the next day or two.
Blackout the windows more and just leave er white

I looked at the pics too and agree. The side stripe seems to be on a downward slant as it goes from front to rear. I don't know if that is actually the case, or if it's because of an optical illusion. But the stripe starts ABOVE the headlights in the front, and ends BELOW the tail lights at the rear.
I find that odd, and I would have made the stripe level.. either above the lights front and back, or below them, or split the difference and have it centered between. But it is the owners rig and their tastes that matter.
I still think they did an overall outstanding job.... especially when considering that this was his first time ever using a spray gun (still find that hard to believe from the results), and the fact that he did all the work outside. The rig looks ten or more years newer... and I'd be thrilled if mine looked half as good.
The stripes do slope downward from front to back just wanted to be a little different.
The pictures don't do the colors in the stripes justice.
The colors really pop out there, they are house of candy colors.

Really nice work. I like the stripe (hated the W stripes and the 1970 colors) The slight angle is a break from the boxy look of the original stripes I think you have exellent taste , And a fantastic looking rig ! Frank
