Title: Changing Steering column and wheel
Post by: frank-id2 on October 24, 2012, 05:26 PM
My 1971 Travco steering wheel and column is very uncomfortable.  The column needs to be relocated closer to the drivers seat, a bit lower and a better angle.  Gonna cut column and shaft off near floor.  To change the angle a new ujoint will be used.  The steering shaft will be exchanged for a GM shaft, so any GM wheels can be used.  The whel diameter will be about 14.5 or 15 inches.  The column support will be of a different design.  I made this same change to my bus, 1968 Crown, 35ft.   Frank

I have a 1979 26 ft Brave, The previous owner apparently did not like the stock steering and wanted a tilt wheel so he installed a Chev truck steering column and wheel. Looks like about a 94. Can send pictures if anyone needs.
