In the coach water plumbing, what is the purpose of installing the anti-back flow fittings? What do they prevent? And, what is a pipe "bib" where you install an ABF? Where are these typically located?

Wow, Finally one I can answer!
The "BIB" is the outside connection for water on the coach like a connection for a external hose for washing the rig or taking a shower outside.
The ABF ( there are numerous types and acronyms) is a back flow preventer that keeps dirty water from flowing back up the hose and into your clean water supply, look around the outside of your house the little plastic caps that are on the hose connectors (faucet/hose bib) is a type of back flow preventer.
That being said, I don't recall any of my coaches having one, but then again I have never owned a Winnie, it may be a peculiarity of the pressurized potable system in the older coaches.
