I am now rehabbing the power steering/hydroboost system, first stop was the resivor and fluid. What I saw and felt was a oil like fluid and quite thick is the word I'll use. Thick as compared to modern fluids. Is there a specific type of fluid a 83 hydroboost uses?
Found the answer i believe, ive not seen such a heavy oil before this in a PS pump...but things change

Following it down im going with valvoline PS..
Whatever the original type fluid was used should be just fine. Today's fluids are better in quality, and as you said, things change. However, your motorhome hasn't. Unless thoroughly proven, I would hesitate to go with anything completely diffrent, just the better version of the original.
Yes i do understand your thoughts, if one would like to take the time to google and follow done the below link it can be done. It would appear below is the original fluid.
