Title: Testing for bad regulator and circuit board?

does anyone know how to test for a bad regulator and a bad board ?

Yes. You will need the full model number. Then go the the Member area-manuals, and download the manual for your model gennie. Full diagnostics are included in most.

Definitely good advice, oldrock...

The first step in troubleshooting generators or any appliance is to obtain the manual, if available.  We've amassed a very good collection of these resources over the years for our members.  Once that's in hand, the problem may be solved just by using the troubleshooting guides, and it's there for reference if not when other members help in the process.
