Title: Were 8 x 17.5 tires the original size? (73 D24 Indian)
Post by: Brownfamily on August 26, 2014, 11:28 PM
Hello All,
I just purchased a 73 Indian D24. There are 8Rx19.5's on them. From what i am learning it appears that the 8Rx17.5 was the original size? Does anyone know? There seems to be one side that is rubbing slightly on the rear over big bumps so not sure why. Any assistance would be appreciative.

19.5" rims are only used on M500 (early RM400) and M600 chassis.

73 and later M300 (RM300) and M400 (early RM350) chassis was 8 x 17.5)

72 and earlier M300 used 16 x 5.5 split rims

72 and earlier M375 used 17 x 6 split rims

Be sure to check Dodge VIN plate for chassis year.  Winnebago typically placed this years rig (e.g 1973) on last years chassis (e.g 1972).
