Should I use Premium, non ethanol, recreational gas? 91, 92, 93 or?
From all the info posted over the years, the octane specified in the owner manual is all you need. Ethanol free for your older rig is a big plus!
I haven't seen anyone say they needed over 87 octane. That's par for the course and should be fine. In fact, running higher octane can reduce engine efficiency and gas mileage because the higher the octane, the more it resists ignition and is designed for use in high compression engines.

I am used to using non ethanol in my wifes 4.7 northstar bonneville gxp and every small engine I work on. I havent found info on how the 454 this young would run on anything with ethanol. Good to know. Cheaper gas also.
