Has anyone tried using a Sunsetter style home style automatic sun shade on a Motorhome. I just saw a few of them available on Craigslist from people who took them off of their house. Is there a reason it would not work?
I see no reason they wouldn't work except you must have a way to lock in place in travel mode. Can't have it just bounce out while cruising down the road in traffic...
???
Find out how much they weigh. I just got rid of a manual one only 8' long and it was probably heavier than the 18' one on the motorhome.
??? Wow! Good advice.
According to Google they weigh between 9 and 18 pounds per foot. How does that compare to the standard RV awning?
Don't think you'll get much for replies on that as we don't really weigh our awnings.
Google new RV awnings in the length you need. Good chance they'll have the weight listed in the specs.
I replaced the fabric on my 19' awning, by myself, at 68 years old. It involved lifting and handling the tube and fabric together. I can assure you that, had it weighed between 171 and 342lbs. I would not have been able to.
