Title: 350 Conversion
Post by: sas300 on March 15, 2019, 09:28 PM
Has anyone heard of or done a conversion on a 1970-1977 Winnebago using  the engine and trans out of a late 90's Chevy 2500 with the injected 350?

Thanks

There have been several, there is one running around with a turbocharged LS in it.  http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php?topic=14515.msg89322#msg89322

There was another on this forum somewhere that the guy swapped in a small block and showed the whole procedure. You are working with a large open hole so you should not have any problems as long as you have a welder and some fabrication skills to build motor and transmission mounts. You are certainly not going to find a bolt in kit. And since it is an injected engine be sure to get all of the wiring and sensors from the donor vehicle.

A 5.3L or 6.0L LS motor from a late model truck would be amazing, it would be good if you could leave the old TH400 in it too and just let it spin at 3000 rpm down the road.  That motor would love it. Unless you could get the engine and tranny from a 3/4 ton so the tranny would be beefy enough to hold up over time.  I wouldn't use one from a 1/2 ton.
