I have a 1979 Dodge El Dorado motor home with a 440 engine. It starts fine runs fine, for 25 minutes and just dies. No cough no nothing just like the key was turned off. Tried changing out the coil did the same thing appears to be getting fuel any ideas?
It could be the pickup coil in the distributor or the ignition control unit mounted on the plate at the back of the engine. As usual with these types of problems, it is difficult to diagnose.
25 minutes at idle or under load? Does it restart immediately?
If it shuts off while driving it under load, look for lack of fuel volume due to restricted fuel filter, tank pickup, or a weak fuel pump. If it dies after idling at approximately the same amount of time, also replace the ignition module. Why did you change the coil? Did you actually have a no spark situation?
