Title: New "House" Batteries
Post by: tarifachris on November 20, 2022, 07:32 PM
After 6 years my 4 x 6V 225ah Trojan Batteries were only holding 50% charge. DEAD.

I replaced them with second hand UCharge Valence U1-12RT LiFePo4 batteries and I hope they survive longer even they are used.
I bought them locally from OfferUp for 80$ a piece! Not cheap but every Battery has his own BMS and they all have the same Voltage of 13.4 Volts resting.

The positive is that you can drain them down to 10-20% capacity and not like the Trojan only to 50%.

Charging works great since my Coach alternator puts out 14.8 Volts with my Balmar Regulator and my old Progressive Chassis charger had a jumper to charge LiFePo4 batteries with 14.6 Volts.

Well, your old batteries lasted a good while and, although the ones you got weren't "cheap", good, new ones are quite a bit more.  Nice rig, great photos.  I hope you enjoy it for years to come!

Nice,

I'm with you on the Lithium front.

Got my house batteries replaced with CHINS LFP batteries.

Those lithium should last a lot longer then lead. But they don't like freezing too much.

Only thing to be aware of.
