Can anyone tell me what furnace would have come in my 78 chieftain? The previous owner removed it since it was a southern rv and living in mn and camping spring and fall I'm going to add one. And I thought it would be interesting the know what came from factory so I could look up the btu heat output and use that as a guid for the size I put in now. Any advice welcome. Thansk mike
I had the same problem with my 78 winnebago. I found a good condition replacement on eBay. I got lucky, I watched and hunted til I found it. I haven't fully installed yet til complete my cabinet, but I set it where it once was. You can tell because how the vent outside is the same shape and size.

Go here for Brochure (https://www.winnebago.com/brochure?model=Chieftain)
Go here for Parts Book (https://catalog.winnebagoind.com/menu/Parts.htm) once you know your model code from the brochure. Will either be WDP26RB or WDP26RK (rear kitchen)
Thanks guys I'm Learning. I wanted to introduce my self, I'm David, from Tucson. I have been restoring a m400 Winnebago for a few years now, as time and life permitted. I stated with a good running truck that has been kept up and upgraded. But 95000 miles and the floor and sides just shook apart. Coming along with now with new floor and light pvc panels covering the inside walls, upgraded refer, a/c and soon I get to use her as intended, finally!! I have used this forum and my manual and am convinced I have a dependable unit!! In the next couple years I'm doing a Chevy truck LS conversion.
Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate it.
