Title: Receiver Hitch weight rating?
Post by: LJ-TJ on November 15, 2016, 12:52 PM
Does anybody know what weight the standard receiver hitch on a 75 Winnebago can Carrie. I'm in the process of building a carrier to go into the hitch on the back of my 75 bago. It's the stock hitch not an after market hitch. I'm hoping to carry a 200 lb upright fridge on it for a 150 miles. i?? D:oH!

Bear in mind that even if the hitch is rated at 200 400 800, it will take more than that due to the "bounce" factor built in.  Meaning that porpoising from pot holes and the like will put a higher load on it.  Heck, I'm 200 pounds, and if my hitch couldn't carry me jumping up and down I wouldn't tow anything with it!  ;)
