Hey Guys,

When everyone talks about a remote start for a gen set. Is it just the wireing  plus a switch to the dash or is there more to it. Thanks

T.J.,

On ours (4KW Kohler) it's just a remote switch plate about 2" x 3" to the left of the dash that has only a toggle switch and an indicator pilot light on it.  A 5 wire bundle connects it to the control box on the genset and the control box has a similarly marked switch on its face with a meter alongside instead of a pilot light.
The Toggle is a 3 position switch labeled:

Start - (Up-Momentary On) Genset cranks as long as you hold the switch up in this position & returns to center position when released.
   |
Run  - (Center-Off) switch stays in this position whether genset is running or not but indicator light glows green as long as its running.
   |
Off   - (Down-Momentary On) Generator winds down & dies when switch is held in this position (If released too soon genset will restart itself.)
