Looking for other Apollo owners!
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:15 PM »
Just purchased a 1982 Apollo 3000 DB. Interiors are almost brand new. Frige still with internal labels and all in like new conditions. It had been sitting for at least 5 years and motor had the water thermostat removed and still open/taken apart. Working on it on the weekends to get it started. There are several things on the inside and out that I do not know how they work or what they are for. This is my first RV!!!  :)   Are there members in this forum that own Apollo RVs?

Looks like we have a dozen active ones.  Feel free to post questions on the corresponding topic boards.  We are a menagerie of RV owners and it really doesn't matter who has what, there's always help.

Thanks!! I'll do, I am pretty excited about the RV. Lots of plans for it.  :)  Are there manuals or brochures I can download as a lifetime member?

I don't know where to find brochures for it, but we have the service manuals in the member area.

There's also a TON of manuals & service  & troubleshooting guides for all kinds of appliances, air conditioners, awnings, and more that you get access to.

Just joined here myself

I picked up a 1981 3300DB back in April and have been working on a huge renovation DAILY on ever since - we'll be taking our first road trip in 10 days

I have a very detailed blog on my renovation at http://81apollorestoration.wordpress.com

I have pretty much all of the literature if you need copies.  Also, since I did a pretty exhaustive teardown and wiring improvements, I know this coach pretty much inside and out

Nice to meet another Apollo owner

Please remember to post technical questions separately on the appropriate board.  That way, it doesn't get lost in the middle of general discussions.

The question about purging the fuel system would typically go on the Topics for All Chassis board.  However, there's a lot more to it than just getting rid of the old gas when a vehicle has sat for so long.

Our long time member, "Lefty" gave us 2 excellent articles on "how to prepare a motorhome which hasn't been run for a long time".  It's a great read!

http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php/topic,3976.msg11101.html#msg11101

and

http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php/topic,3977.msg11102.html#msg11102

If you have more questions about that topic, just post them as replies on it   :)ThmbUp

Other members, please do not add advice to that here.  If you have more to add, also put replies on that topic.  It helps keep all that good info in one place so it can help the most.

Since you're question is on those topics, I added it to one of them.
 :)

Thanks!

I haven't scanned the manual yet, but once the renovation is finished it's one of the first things on my list.  Once it's done I'll be sure to send you a copy of the manual.

If there are any small sections of the manual that you need specifically, I can scan them in and send them to you sooner.  Feel free to hit me up with any questions - I know how complicated things can quickly get once you start working on these!

Thanks Jondecker, I just downloaded the chassis service manual from the member area. Be sure I will hit you up as I encounter issues. So far it's been a fun start. First on the list was to get the motor running. Hope I will have that done and complete this weekend.  :)

I was close to buying a 70s era Apollo... they are impressive. But the one I was looking at needed all new tires and I didn't want to buy it knowing I had to put a ton of money into it right off the bat... just to drive it away...

Yeah... that plan worked for me.  D:oH!

I was wondering were you uploaded that manual. I didn't find anything in members area. I just got an apollo 3000 db on a chevy chasis with a 454. but i am trying to see everything in it and how to operate it and so forth. like holding tanks, inverter, converter and generator, were it is wired into gas line all that happy stuff. Is there a way i can get a look at what you uploaded?

Not sure if you have to be a full member to do this or not, If you cannot access this link then you have to have full membership which is cheap.
