Need help to indentify my chassis
« on: April 16, 2019, 02:43 PM »
Hello, I just bought a 1969 Winnebago Motor home, and all I know is that it is a 22' Winnebago. It tells me nothing on the totle about the chassis. If someone can help me I would appreciate it.

Is it a dodge, chevy, ford?  Any emblem on the grill? try the glove box, it may have an options sticker or info about the chassis

There should be a data plate or sticker somewhere on the coach. On the door or under the dash on the side panel. If all else fails pictures of the engine should help. Is it a V8 or 6 cylinder? If it is a 6 cylinder that pretty much narrows it down to a Ford. They were the only ones that put a 6 in a motor home.

Thank you, I will look for the info on the doors and elsewhere and I do believe that it is a V8

You can also contact Winnebago industries and they may be able to tell you where to look for the needed info and after you find it they may be able to give you more info on that unit. They used to do all that although I have heard that only some people there still offer up that service. Probably the older ones that still care.

According to the Winnebago brochure for 1969, all models were built on a Dodge M-300 chassis, except the F-17 model which was a Ford with a 300ci engine.  It didn't say whether it was a V8 or 6.

The Ford 300 was a 6.

Get good roadside assistance coverage b/c you're going to need it if you're not changing fluids, belts, hoses right away.
