I previously remove the toilet from my 70 to brave and plumbing to the waste tank. The tank is still there and now due to different circumstances I would like to put a toilet back in. I am wondering if I can do this without a vent through the roof. I just put a brand new roof on with zero holes in it and Iââ,¬â,,¢m not excited about putting one in.This RV will only be a short vacation tape rig. I do not plan on using the toilet while driving.
Can I get by with an air admittance valve?
Is a vent necessary if I am only flushing the toilet on that drain?
Third option would be to plumb a vent through a louvered wall vent out the side.
Thanks

I'm thinking your best bet would be a vent through the roof. You want to ensure those "noxious" vapours are away from the inside!!

Not only noxious but methane gas in concentration is poisonous. AND flammable, going out the side would give it access to the windows.

I've decided not to put a toilet in at all now.  This thing is always gonna sit near a bath house.  I always have the option tho.

Another option is a Sani-potti, I used one of them in my boat for many years. I see the original Sani-potti has been bought out but here are three choices. They had a 2 1/2 gallon and a 5 gallon. The 5 gallon came with brackets that mounted to the floor and those clips on the side that hold the tank would also clip to the brackets so it was not going anywhere. When it was time to empty you just took the tank and dumped it in a toilet at a rest stop.

A friend installed a small composting toilet in his bus the same as he had on a boat- it used a 5 gallon pail and some laser cut gears to turn it around-it worked well and was fairly reasonable around $300 if I remember but I cannot find any online listing of the thing
