I've never seen one.  The Chilton that we have (which is the same as the one on eBay) is the only one I've seen.  You might want to see if there's a Chilton's website (I've never tried that myself) and take a look?

Winning big = FORTY-THREE DOLLARS!?  plus shipping?

Oh... my... the winner paid way too much for that.  They normally go for around $20.  The manual is okay but, it's nothing close to an original Dodge service manual in quality of info.  The seller is smiling from ear-to-ear on this one.

We do (the link is above), although the eBay item is a hard copy and ours is an eManual.  I've watched them for some time and when they do come up on eBay, they generally end up selling for between $15 and $25.

I bought one on eBay for a total of $12, removed the pages from the binder, scanned it, and processed it like the other manuals. I've never liked Chilton's very much - they are highly abbreviated versions of the manufacturer shop manuals so this is why it's available here for the least cost of all the chassis manuals we have.

Hi! I am new to this forum and have seen a few shop eBooks for sale at the store. I have a 1976 Brave D-19 and am working on restoring it. Which book do you recommend I purchase? The one listed here in this thread looks like it might be the one. Also do you recommend I get one that is specific to the year for the chassis for 1976 or will this one be just fine?
Thank you.

PS We drove it from Arizona to Oregon and everywhere we went people stopped and talked to us about it! I did not realize just how cool it is!  :)ThmbUp

Welcome to our little piece of the WWW.

Locate the Dodge chassis VIN number so you can determine the actual year of the chassis.  Because they ordered chassis' in bulk lots from Dodge, Winnebago typically built the current year model (i.e. 76) on the previous year Dodge chassis (i.e 75).  A Dodge VIN looks like: M30DA5S123456
The sixth digit is the year the chassis was produced.  Once you know that you can determine which Dodge Service manual you need.

Thank you Dave! I found the informative sticker on the drivers side wall that had that information on it for the chassis. So it tells me that it was incompletely manufactured on 12-75, but the chassis vin has the 6th # as a 6. So based on this, I have a 1976 chassis. I am curious because the title calls my rig out to be a 1978, but the original manual and brochures that came with it clearly say 1976 Brave and it matches models from that year.

Thanks again for your help!

As far as the Service manual, you would want the 76-77 manual (http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php?action=store;sa=view;id=203 (http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php?action=store;sa=view;id=203))

As far as the parts manual you need the 69-77 Parts book.

I was wondering if this will be the ultimate manual for a 1976 Brave D-19? Was there a lot of changes between 74-76? I just got the chassis manual, but I still want more info on all of the systems and perhaps a sencond view of what I'm trying to fix. What do you recommend from the store here or at a safe web site? Thank you!

The Chilton's manual is 221 pages.  The pages are physically smaller than the shop manual and the amount of info per page is less.  It presents most of the same info found in the Dodge shop manual but in a different format and in an abbreviated manner, and it doesn't have the torque tables and isn't quite as in-depth or have the exploded diagrams found in the shop manual.

However, it does have the basic info on the OEM roof air and refrigerator systems with good troubleshooting guides.  It also has a very abbreviated section on the body but, nowhere near as in depth as the Eyebrow Winnebago body manual has (also in the club store).

I would honestly say that the Chilton's is a good, basic version but the best references for complete info are a combination of the Dodge Shop Manual, the body manual, and any manuals you can find in our manuals & diagrams section (free to Full and Life Members) which are specific to the stove, fridge, roof a/c, furnace, etc as you have and the operator's manual as well (free to all members).

There really wasn't very much change at all from 74 - 76.  The main, noticeable one is that, in 1976, the front window and eyebrow was angled slightly rearward instead of forward.  The mechanicals....  very little.  I would venture that most of the changes would be increased emmissions related items but, I would present that someone with more experience with the '76 year.

A. All Chassis running gear is produced by Dodge.
B. Each individual appliance (Fridge, Water Heater, Furnace, etc.) would have it's own seperate user manual.  Many are located in the Free Manuals section of our members area.
C.  We have a 75 Operators manual in our Free manuals section.  Should be fairly close to what you have.  If not then you would have to order the operators manual from Winnebago (P/N 001976-02-000 1976 Brave)
D. If we do not have the coach wiring / plumbing diagrams in the free manuals area, you will have to contact Winnebago to obtain them.
E. Coach Parts books:  http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/1976/76wd19.pdf (http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/1976/76wd19.pdf) and http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/1976/76common.pdf (http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/1976/76common.pdf)
