Title: Fell in love with an Airstream
Post by: HandyDan on January 27, 2012, 11:41 AM
I went to the Kansas City RV Show yesterday.  I wore my knees out climbing in and out of at least a hundred RVs.  I wasn't finding anything that would make me part company with my old Holiday Rambler until I came to the Airstreams.  The first two were extremely nice.  One was a toy hauler but the insides of both were reminiscent of a ship.  Port holes and aluminum walls.  However, I came upon a 27ft Classic that was just what I would want if I were in the market for a new trailer.  I like twin beds in the camper because I don't always camp with my wife and the Airstream was the only camper in the whole show that had twin beds.  But the interior was beautiful and well laid out.  Even though it didn't have a slide out, it was very roomy.  The ceiling and walls were covered with a beautiful leather looking vinyl material and none of the ship look.  Absolutely gorgeous.  THEN I read the fine print for the "RV Show Special Price".  It was $81,000!  The MSRP was $92,000.  This was just a trailer and didn't even include a generator.  I know they don't spare any expense on materials and everything in it was top quality, but $81,000 for a trailer?    Guess I'll have to double up on my lottery tickets.

I know, right?!  They are unique and nice but, it's the name that commands the price.

LOL Dan...just imagine how pristine and nice your Holiday Rambler would be if you made 80,000 bucks in improvements...

I'd stick with the HR...but then, I'm a little biased...I love the old HRs.

Airstreams are neat, but I wouldn't pay that much for a trailer...if you really wanted one, I'd say go used.

These are for the people who have too ,much money. The price is exobitant to keep the peons from having one.  Frank
