Title: What Battery For The Engine?
Post by: Jamo on May 11, 2018, 06:18 PM
I'm going to replace the engine battery in my '89 Chieftain with a Chevrolet 454.  Anything special I should get or ask for?

Will it fit on that tiny battery shelf?  454's are pretty big! :D

Since they put these batteries in so many different places the best thing to do is measure the space you have and get a battery that fits the space. I say that but use common sence, if you have a huge space you do not need a 6D truck battery! A group 24 battery is just fine. Modern batteries are pretty powerful.

The biggest that will fit, from a quality manufacturer, with the correct style terminals, in the correct place on the battery for your vehicle.  That's what I would do.
